Some British Auto mag had an article on this. The next Supra will be called Supra, but it, like the Skyline GTR, Honda/Acura NSX, the Mitsubishi 3000 GT/GTO and other Japanese Supercars are being re-done. Two reasons for this: Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn (from Renault SA) decided that the Skyline GTR had to have the most powerful V8 in the world, he wants it to compete against porsche, ferrari, and the Corvette.
Because of that, and the fact that the Euro Sports people are coming out with better V8 engines for their supercars, the manufacturers are redeveloping their engines for those to better compete globally. Skyline GTR is expected in late 2006, when the V36 platform comes out (current Skyline/G35 (A-Spec) is V35), Supra (which I think could come out as a Lexus model worldwide also, like the Caddy XLR/Chevy Corvette) in 2005, NSX in 2006.
