Motors leaking mass oil, should i fix or replace?
Hey all,
The other day after driving fairly hard (4k- redline in 4th and 5th gear uphill through corners), I caught up to some traffic and heard a slight tick tick tick sound when i slowed down. I pushed in the clutch and the sound went away, when I gave it gas, the noises got louder as the revs increased. I pulled over and listened to the motor and it sounds like its coming from under the valve cover. I checked the oil and it was real low, got home, put in three quarts and the sound went away (kinda) Now, everytime I park the car after driving it for a bit, it drops oil out the front passenger side of the car. I'm not sure where its coming from on the engine because I havent had a chance to jack it up and take a look at it yet. This problem sound familiar to anyone? I'm thinking I should just buy a used ka24de... or keep saving and live with the leak for a few more months till i can afford a ca or something... Anyone think I could get a KA with decent miles on it for around $500? I have almost a grand saved, but dont want to spend a grand on a KA... -Grendel |

i wouldn't swap the whole engine out just because its leaking oil. a swap is going to be harder then an oil seal replacment.

OK, here are your options.....i have a used KA form a 1991 with only 60K on it, ....its only block and head though, no wiring shit and shit....ill sell it to u for 600 plus shipping (negotiable)
your other option is to get a ca18det motorset (includes tranny, ECU, uncut harness, basically EVERYthing NEEDED) for 775 plus shipping so yes, i would reccomend the ca18det, contact me on AIM r240GT and ill tell you about the group buy where u can get it for 775$

why not just replace whats wrong? If you are going to have to take it out anyhow if you were going to swap in a new one, why not just take out your engine and fix what is wrong....... so much cheaper. not like anyway is going to be harder then the other.

That group buy definately sounds interesting if its for real... sounds almost too good to be true tho. I messaged you a few times on AIM, lemme know more details about the CAs... If the group buy is for real, I'll buy one tomorrow. -Grendel |
