Strut Bar Question???

Hi I have a lower rear strut bar that I'd like to install. It's the one that goes on the rear underneath the car, but I'm wondering what benefit does it have to put at strut bar there because it's already a solid frame connecting the suspension together from side to side???

And also I'm wondering is there a strut bar for the lower front at all and if so would it be of any practical use??? I saw something on ebay but it looked way too strange to be real.

hey i put a neuspeed rear lower tie bar it was a bitch to install its hard as hell to line the bolt up once you get the origanel out but with some playing you can get i noticed a slight improvment it felt as if when i took shrp turns at high speeds that it just swond around but the biggest improvement came when i put a neuspeed upper front tie bar the one with four mounting points it doesnt have it listed on there web site but if you look at 1994 honda civics its there let me tell you what a difference i also droped the car but no matter how fast i take a turn i cant get it to slip the tires squik a little but no slide i think its one of the best parts that i put on what a great part after that i had a new found respect for handeling

The bar to add/upgrade is a rear sway bar with lower tie bar. The lower tie braces one of the suspensions weak points.

If your looking for handling, no strut/tie bar is gonna do it. Tires, Springs, & shocks are key. The rear sway bar will make the biggest difference on a front wheel drive car.

Front lower ties are the last thing too add.

1. Tires
2. Springs/ true coilovers
3. Shocks/struts
3. Rear sway upgrade
4. Rear lower tie
5. Upper strut/tie bars (front/rear)
6. Front sway bar upgrade or bushing upgrade with stock sway
7. Front lower tie

The Neuspeed bars are some of the best IMO
They make strut/tie bars(and many other suspension parts) for function, not looks like many other companies.

Suspension is one thing not to be cheap with. Price usually reflects quality.

imo i'd say the sfirst thing to do is sway bars.

thinking about a cost effective suspension setup. equipping your car w/ lets say, stock gsr sway bars will definately make ti feel more positive. then springs/shocks or coilovers. tie bars help makign things a little more tight, it also helps if you have a rear that is preloadable or just solid like the comptech. price doesnt ALWAYS affect quality. comptech is outragously priced for what it is. but it works. but for a fraction of the price, you can get a ssr rear sway bar/tie bar combo that wors just as well. or better yet. the beaks rear sway bar kit with a reputable rear lower tie bar. for me:

neuspeed 4pt front upper control arm
emracing trunk bar
emracing rear strut tower bar
emracing triangulated trunk bar
cusco lower tie bar
itr cross member brace (sits behind engine near swaybar and axles)
eibach 25mmf/17mmr sway bars
tokiko blues
h&r sport springs

i'm currently saving for the tein ss for integras, higher springrated.
also the comptech tiebar/sway bar combo. overpriced but hey, might as well have the best ^_~

Sway bars are nothing without good springs/shocks and tires!

coming from someone who has a del sol s. using STOCK SPEC integra front and rear sway bars. they made the biggest difference, even without upgrading the suspension. the car STILL leaned less than it would without. besides, the rear sway bar is only 14mm, so it doenst mess with the subframe as much as lets say, an itr rear bar. not to mention the itr and ctr subframes are nearly 3 times thicker than other civics and integras....

oh humm.....

what sway bars did the del sol VTEC come with?
24mm front?
14mm rear?

well what do you know, on stock suspension too....

it just so happens that the integras share the same front brakes, and sway bars as del sol vtec's

Yea upgraded sway bars on stock suspension will make a slight difference but, you'll never get their full potenial without quality springs/struts & tires. The whole reason for adding or upgrading the rear sway on a FWD car is to counteract understeer, or even induce oversteer in extreme cases(large rear bar/no front)
I could carelss what OEM parts fit different cars, there is an aftermarket for a reason!
When you add a stiff rear bar, thats when you use a subframe brace kit to prevent tearing, or in my case I welded the brackets to the frame.
Most stock suspension is useless when it comes to performance & handling. To the normal driver stock suspension is fine since the car is not driven hard but, if you like to drive hard or know how to drive hard, stock suspension doesn't cut it.

I guess you have never riden in a Nissan 300Zx TT before huh jackasssi? The stoc suspension in that car handls like aftermarket shit. I know cause i have one. But thats besid the point.
If you are driving th car hadr enough on the public roadways to out preform the stock suspension you deserv to hit a telephone poll. I had a couple good friends killed cause of people who modified there suspension and thought their cars could turn conrers at insane speeds.
And unless you have been driving on a track for 20 years you dont know HOW TO DRIVE HARD. Just cause you smack your head off the glass dosent mean you can drive well.

Plz dont take this post to be an insulting post. Im just letting you know how i feel. Ive lost friends about this and seeing someone i dont know get in the same situation makes me mad. If you are goint to do sumpthing like "drive hard" do it on a track not the road.

There is a reason why I said, MOST stock suspension is useless when it comes to performance, Sports cars are a whole different world. And yes I have ridden in & driven 300Z's, nothing to impress me, I've been in many "stock" sports cars that will out handle a 300Z any day.

By driving hard, I don't mean driving like a moron & anyone who drives like a moron gets what they desrve. You can still be safe & drive hard on the street. There are places & times for it & places/times not to do it. If your gonna drive hard I suggest learning how to do it properly under pro. supervision, once you know your limits & the cars, then think about taking corners at "insane speeds" like a moron.
