Drivers side window problem

The window only goes down about and inch, and then you have to push the button again, and again, and many more agains after that. I had the motor and switch replaced, but that didn't solve the problem. Is there a relay that controls this too? I've read about the 'comfort' relay, but the impression I got was that the only problem associated with the comfort relay is if your windows do not work at all. My car is a 97 318ti, just in case that may help.

I have a 95 325i vert driver side goes down but it's tough to get it back up, sound like the gears might be worn but why would it go down okay?

Friend of mine had prob with window going down but not up. turned out the window was coming off the track near the base. took the door panel off, realigned it, and prob solved

I have the door panel off, couldn't figure out how to line it up, can you help?

Not really since i dont have personal experience on your model car. when i did it on my friend's car, it was just kind of intuitive. also, we took more than just the interior panel off, you should be able to take the big metal part off to expose everything inside the door. made it a lot easier than trying to reach through those little service holes in the metal. look for bolts around the edges.
