Sounds like it is out of fluid for the slave cylinder that works the clutch if it is hydraulic.

Just like a brake, no fluid, pedal falls to floor.

Same thing with the clutch of this type.

No fluid, then no pressure to push in slave cylinder.

Have someone push clutch in while you look at cylinder to see if it's moving.
Also check fluid in clutch reservoir.

I would also check the hose connections for the hydraulics to the clutch--mine broke once and once replaces everything was fine.

I have an 87 cherokee where it seems like I am losing the pedal--checked the reservoir and it was seriously low--added brake fluid and it improved a lot--but obviously there is a leak somewhere--so my take is to look at first the resevoir--(is there fluid leaking inside the jeep about where the fuse panel is?--in mine there is) --if that is okay--check the hose--going into the transmission---any leaks? (I know at some point in the jeep lineage the slave is on the outside of the transmission)--but I would guess if all above is okay that the slave would be the problem--if its inside the trans.--have to pull the trans to get to it.

One more thing.
It is like brakes in that you have to bleed it to get any air out of the system.
