Very nice work, this car looks great! I just have a question though, why did you choose the Nismo wheels for show side? I figured they would be performance side, and the workmeisters would be show side because the works are very chrome and more showy than the nismos? Anyway... Great work really really like this car!

Re: Nismo R32 GT-R Yashio tuned...progress

The chrome wasn't really a factor as both are forged and both are pretty light in weight.

I used the Work Meister S2 as street because it is a predominantly super car street wheel. The S2 is especially popular with street Skylines.

Staying with the theme I had to incorporate the LM GT4's somehow. Having said that you'd be more likely to see the Nismo LM GT4's on the car when it's sitting in a Nismo show booth.

we think a lot alike you and me. I am currently building a NISMO R32, I've always liked that car. your model looks awesome, I hope I can produce something with that good a quality. your engine work looks good, I like the Yashio valve cover. I also like the rim and hood options. the YF hoodwork is superb.

questions:

did you get the rims from the tamiya R34 kit or elsewhere. if elsewhere, then... where?

also, the NISMO decal running down the sides of the car, where did you source these fine items?

and how did you get the valve cover detailing so perfect (the lettering) ???

Thanks for all the comments....the car's not quite done yet.

Let's see.....

1.)Yes...off the R34

2.)Nismo stripe from this car

3.)Very carefully. I painted the letter not caring how perfect I got it and then sanded down the plain. Leaving the recessed lettering still colored. It took some work as the space is very limited but the results are well worth it. It's hard to see but the valve cover bolts are painted titanium silver...toothpick of course.

I've had some people ask what the stripes are on the turbo main inlet pipe. The stripes are to duplicate the look of cut-and-welded titanium tubing.

$22 plus shipping for that kit. all for a stripe LOL.

I can't do that method as I've made a carbon fiber valve cover. but yours came out excellent!

I didn't get the kit from HLJ but yeah....mostly for the stripe. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do for true detail. It's not a total waste though as the decal sheet leaves enough to do one Nissan (i.e.-my R32) and still have plenty Nismo decals for the R33. The body kit on the R33 is nice as well. I plan to build a mild Nismo R33 with whats left over. Money well spent IMO......

The "sponsor" hood......cut the logo in the CF decal sheet before applying. Be SUPER careful because you'll easily tear the decal when setting. Especially when the design is thin like the YF and when you use a setting solution. I used Micro Set. You've got 1 maybe 2 tries tops to get that centered and where you want it. Any messing with it after that will cause ripping.
