IS THIS Z WORTH IT, and fuel pump, relay, fuse something problem!!

Hey. first time poster and z owner long time z lover!! heres the deal, i saw a 280 z in the paper for $300.00 it stated that it needs "minor repair" when i got there the guy said he needed cash bad and that if i bought there car that day i could have it for $200. and the only thing that needed to run was a fuse which goes in the fuse box under the hood, he said that he bought a fuel pump and that it worked when he hooked it straight to a battery and he got fuel to the engine, but after that he couldnt get fuel INTO the engine. he cranked the engine and it sounded like a new car cranking and he said that just to see if it wasnt getting fuel he sprayed starting fluid into the intake and it started right up and ran for a couple of seconds? so do you guys think he is right or what do you think the problem is, also the interior is perfect, no cracked dash or none of that stuff, the body has a couple of rust spots that are holes, so how did i do thanks any help is much appreciated
