Sonds like my indicators are on, but arent

suddenly now when I dirve my car for some reason the indicator sound will come on but the lights dont actually come on. Other than that my indicators will work fine when I turn them on. I have no idea why it makes that sound when i'm just driving along and it seems like its getting worse. Does anyone know why? I'm guessing its the wiring or the fuse.
