Question How to Repair Minor Head Gasket Leak?

My 1992 BMW 535i has an annoying minor head gasket leak, near the front side of the head (3.4L). The leak is not bad enough to warrant replacing the gasket entirely (not to mention how costly this would be). The engine only has 85,000km. Any ideas on whether the head can be sealed from the outside with some sort of sealent? I've heard that these cars are notorious for head gasket leaks.

Thanks,

Sandy K

some hints and sources

Using a sealant will not last since the issue is between two different metals.

The head is aluminum and the block is steel.

Only real cure is a new gasket.

It can lead to an overheat and then the complete engine will need to be replaced.

Here is a link for the lurkers of a source of BMW replacement heads.

AMC Spanish heads

the USA tuners have been selling these Spanish cast heads for years.

BMW

Without valves $650

With valves $700

Core $95
