Mine used a 12 mm allen wrench. Just get the allen wrench and find some kind of lever to get so torque on it, should work fine.

an allen wrench isnt a socket there bud

Kvin002 -- if you have a socket set, just check threw it and try all your sockets so see if any of them fit, there is not a special socket just for this! a regular socket set with Metric sockets should work just fine... hope that helps.

I know an allen wrench isnt a socket. My head bolts were the allen wrench type, not the socket type.

Because of this:

"Does anyone know what kind of socket is used to take the head bolts out?? nobody seems to sell this socket anywhere"

He says what KIND of socket, not what size. And also that nobody sells it. I thought maybe he didnt realize that they were allen heads and was trying to find some wierd specialized socket.

Anyways, I was just trying to help.

People need to start to psot at least what year car they have when asking these questions. 1g will have an allen head cap screw, 10mm I believe. 2g will use regular sockets, 12 or 14mm. ARP head studs use a 12 point 14mm socket.

I'm pretty sure I remember this guy saying that he had (maybe still has) a honduh, but has a DSM as well.

Why would anyone start a thread which asks a question but doesn't check the replies?

yeah well this is what happened....the head was rebuilt and i didnt know that.....so therefore the person that rebuilt it didnt reuse the head bolts so thats why i was all confused. BUt anyway i got the bolts off with external torx sockets.

Oh and by the way if i had to choose which car to get rid of i would choose my eclipse because its the biggest piece of shit just like the rest of them.
