Japanese-American Car Terminology
Hello! It's so CONFUSING for us Americans what all of these cars are called in Japan is different than America. For example:
Toyota Celsior=Lexus LS400 in America Honda Integra=Acura RSX in America Nissan Primera=Infiniti G20 in America Is there a guide, or site, or SOMETHING that could help us out? Thanks for your time!!

Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti are luxury brands of Toyota, Honda, and Nissan
These brands were first created especially for the U.S. market But now these brands are spreading to more places (I think Acura only exists in US, Canada, and Hong Kong) One other reason is that these luxury brands are not offered in japan (Lexus will debut in 2005) so they still use the original brands. And most Japanese cars are much like the Americans, which most of the models have a name instead of using numbers and letters Not just different "brands" will have different names Even the same brand will have the same car with two different names like the VW Jetta, it is also called Bora in some other places All these are about marketing, car manufacturers thinks they will sell more cars this way. |
