Si Redline

Hey guys, I bought my 00' FBP Si in August and I love it. I was told that my car has a electronic rev limiter at 8200rpm, but just messing around the other day, i attempted to go past it, and i took it up to 9500rpm with no trouble......just wondering if maybe the guy before me had some work done to the ECU or something. Can anyone let me know what is up? Seems kind of odd that I can take it up that high!

I DO know for one that Honda OEM tachs are rather inaccurate in the higher RPM range. Now yours being THAT inaccurate is hard to believe, but I'd say it's a combo of that, and maybe the owner had a Type-R ECU put in. OBDII ECU's cannot be tweaked, just replaced for similar ones for the engine it's going on.

Re: Si Redline

My Si had the revlimiter set at ~8200... I bounced off it a *few* times.

DO NOT GO TO 9500 RPMS WITH YOUR MOTOR. YOU WILL REGRET IT!
yes i realize you have a b16 with a perfect rs ratio and all that but your valve train and bottom end assemblies are not meant for that. that will seriously reduce the life of you motor. after 8200 you wont be making any more power anyways so there really is no point.

Maybe it was built to rev that high. I say " Go for it " !!!! Nah, J/K. Listen to Edman and keep the motor around for a while.
