I know the pictures from the racetrack are of Herb Chambers' car. The giveaway is the
"Herb Chambers Motorcars" plate on the back. Only someone from Massachusetts would
know it. The track is New Hampshire Int'l.

The black one could be 007. The dashboard is close to the right color. That's not our shop, however.

Anyway you could resize that image down? Scrolling to the right is such a PITA.

Well looking at the number plate it is a P, which in the Uk means Aug 96 to Aug 97. Therefore, unless it has been resprayed, it has to be magnesium or mercedes brilliant silver. (i never thought i'd write mercedes and brilliant in the same sentence. Opps, i've gone and done it again.)

well if it is MBS, which i think it is, then it's probably 070. I could be 049 provided it wasn't registered until a few months after it was built.

Re: Re: Identifying Help!

'96 to '97, magnesium silvers and merc. brilliants: #47, #49, #50, #57 (theres also #55, which is Ralph Laurens). If it indeed is Mercedes Brilliant Silver, then Herb Chambers McLaren is chassis #49.

Re: Re: Identifying Help!

'96 to '97, magnesium silvers and merc. brilliants: #47, #49, #50, #57, #62, #63, #66, #68, #70. The only ones that are Mercedes Brilliant are #49 and #70. #49s a '96 and #70s a '97. (In that list, I left out cars in which we know the owner, such as Ellison's and Musk's)

BTW: mini_magic, thanks for posting the pics, i hadn't seen any of them before

I've given up on guessing about any silver F1. Unless the photo comes with the info of an owner, or chassis number, I really don't think it's possible to guess or use the process of elimination very effectively. Also, depending on lighting and also the camera taking the photo, the same silver color can look very different. If I have the white balance set to indoor -vs- outdoor on my digital, it creates a drastic difference in the colors that come through on the photo.

I didn't know that the car on the track infield was Chamber's F1 (thanks Drew!!) but I have to say that I don't understand why it wears that UK plate. The other photos I have seen of his car don't show it wearing a UK plate or even any front plate that I recall.

I do believe that the black F1 is Selldorff's, but I think that photo was taken at either the ICI who brought it in to the US, or possibly could have come from before the car made it here. Hard to speculate on that though. The fact that the tires are covered in a white powder substance suggest to me that the photo was taken in a bodyshop.
