New to the forum...

New to the entire site... found this site about 30 minutes ago and it == a dream come true. I've been searching for a community such as this for a while.

I must confess... I don't know much about cars, but you can expect me to be living on this forum. I want to learn, ESPECIALY about the 240SX which I have so recently bought.

1993 240SX SE. I'm in love with it... in LOVE. I am obsessed with the Silvia as well... which is why I plan to do a silvia conversion. But i'm not sure how much it's going to cost... and considering I have no money, that will be difficult.

http://gadget.cpc-net.org/images/240sx.jpg to find a pic of my car.

It's old, but it is in great shape... previous owners babied it. And, I am no different.

So, what do you guys think? Should I go all out and do a Silvia Conversion on that baby? Do you think it will be feasible considering I don't make much money? lol

First thing I think i'll do is get new tires (because the current ones are really worn down!) What kind of tires would be reccomended? I've got 100 bucks in the bank right now. Saving!! I spent all my money on the car! Picked it up for 3,000 dollars. 130,000 miles (but like I said, it's in good shape. Remarkably good shape.) I've been driving it for almost a year now and the only problem i've had is that the passenger seat built is stuck. Which I haven't been able to go get fixed. No money.

Anyways, thanks for reading my post... and I will be looking all over, within, and through this forum over the next couple weeks.

hey nice car you got. sweet lookin and in (like u said) remarkable shape from what i see.

i'd like to inform you that doing the s13 conversion wont look good unless you have enough money for wider fenders or a body kit really. if ur going for subtle looking things , stick with the 240sx front end and build on that. there are some nice One-vias (180sx (jap 240) with silvia REAR end -- basically exactly the same as your coupe) around and they look real nice with fender lips , and side skirts. with a front lip as well.

but if u dont haev money, dont bother on the s13 front end. if the car has been babied, maybe you should rebuild the KA slightly and just turbo that beast. it spools turbos fast, and it gives kick in the balls boost. you'll like it.

my advice is , dont go s13, stick 240, and build on that engine.

EDIT: and welcome to the forums.

Yeah if money is an issue then the convertion kit which can easily run up to $1,500 dollars is out of the question. I would get body mods and maybe lower it if you want a more aggresive look.

Where can you go to get 180sx body kits?

hey, this is stealthj (lol), i know im gonna get banned, but i ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO RESPOND to this guy

u say ur passenger seatbelt is stuck.... same with my convertable,,.,,

i wanna let you know that YOU DONT NEED MONEY FOR THE SEATBELT!!! NISSAN has a LIFETIME WARRANTY on seatbelts, take it in to any dealer, and WALAH FREE.... the reason i dont have mine is because convertable retractors ARE NOT MADE ANYMORE! dont have automatic seatbelts and a manual lap belt, its one of those "normal" ones, and the retracors from my s14 seats wont fit that seatbelt....

you can get s14 seats and put them in yoru hatch,,,, seatbelts are same, and the seat just bolts on

i just HAD TO REPLY TO THIS POST cuz i hate it when no one can sit in the front risking a ticket...

anyways, good luck with your car... looks nice...

....lateZ yall

welcome to the forums, I was in your position a month ago. scour these forums and read the FAQ, and you will learn well. These are some good places to go to to learn more about 240sx's:

http://www.240sxforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3 (<--- another good FAQ place, helps u know how to fix common probs with 240sx's)

http://www.jspec.com/240sxfaq.html is also another good place

You may seem lost now, but after reading the forums and surfing the net for info for a couple of weeks, you'll know what most of the technical stuff people here are talking about. Also it's good to pm people who know what they are doing, they give good fast reliable info.

Nice tips...

Well, I plan to save up my money for a while... at least 3,000 and THEN i'll start working on the car.

I'm scared about the ka24 upgrading because I won't know wtf i'm doing, or what i'm talking about 98% of the time (haha). I'd easily get ripped off by anyone... My dad knows quite a bit about cars, but not imports. He's a big muscle car guy. And he works too much for me to learn much about cars from him.

I guess it wouldn't be much different with dropping the sr20det in. But which one is more cost efficient... The best deal?

I want the cheapest way to get some speed... and, also, most effective. I don't want to go a cheap route and then end up having to pay more in the long run because of problems, etc. I want a fast car, but I don't want to spend too much money doing it... simply because I don't have deep pockets.

Anyways, thanks again guys. I'll take everything into consideration.

you shouldn't have bought a 240sx if you want cheap speed...

yea, the 240 is not the car for speed, but whatever you want

You have to figure out how deep your pockets are to decied motors. Are you going to use as daily driver? if are the sr might give you more problems because of swap but might have fewer miles on engine. Ka is fairly reliable and you can get some decent hp out of it especially if you turbo it.

but like said before deep pockets= horsepower
