I found a broken down 1996 civic ex. it had 40,000 miles on it and the lady who drove it was like 80 and she was the ony owner of it so i knew it couldnt have been in that bad of shape, i think i was wrong. she said that one day while she was driving it, it just died. when i got it i first opened the head's cover and had to change out the cam which cracked at the end of the distributor while replacing the cam i noticed that the oil was FILLED wit gas!! lots of gas. so i changed the oil and tried to start it, it didnt start. next i checked and changed the distributor, because there was no start, after i changed it out there still was no start. so the next thing i am thinking is the ecu. could it be bad or might it just be something else. any one got any ideas??

Re: HELP! No spark, no start??
Ignition coil and/or igniter?????????
Old peoples cars are usually the worst to buy because they are hardly driven & not maintained properly. Cars need to be driven or the seal with get hard & eventually crack. My grandpa's car was a 1991 with only 14,000 miles & that thing was a pile of shit. |

Re: Re: HELP! No spark, no start??
nope i got a new distributor right out of a working car from the junk yark which was said to be tested. so that gave me both a new coil and igniter AND on top of that i tested both my self show that they had no problems but still no spark. the thing that makes me wonder the most is the gass in the oil, i mean it was alot not just a little here little there from cranking the engine too many times. thats one of the major things that make me think its a ecu problem.
