no new manual transmissions for '95 maximas?

hello, I've got my '95 manual max in the shop. It apears i've ruined my trany. They (dealer) tell me nissan doesn't make that transmission anymore and that they have a refurb 1. ARE THEY TELLING THE TRUTH? I mean come on! The 95-99 generation manuals are going to have to go with out parts? What's going on here?

yeah, i wouldn't be surprised if that is true, it takes a lot of resources to build and supply new transmissions for old vehicles. a refurbished tranny should be just about as good as a new one

yah, i guess your right. I had an old benz with a rebuilt engine 10 years ago and I still see that sucker driving around.

I guess i was a little rough on it. It has 107k miles with mild tuning. clutch was starting to tap a while ago. could the bad clutch have caused this? (yes, i'm having the clutch replaced too)

has anyone else here had any problems with their 5speed transmission?

my last car was a 95 se 5 speed and the tranny went at about 100K. the 1-3-5 synchro's needed to be replaced as well as the 1st and 3rd gears themselves. cost me about $1300
