There seems to be a real disconnect going on around here.

The RIAA is a bunch of moronic greedy bastards. The price of CDs is way to high. The solution is to NOT BUY the damn things. Because you feel that a price is to high or you don't like the people doing the selling doesn't give anyone the right to distribute the music. Its called piracy.

Freedom of expression is the right to say what YOU want and spread them in your medium. Not to take someone elses work and spread it without there permission. Perhaps a quick review of what Copyright means.

Downloading MP3s by file sharing across the kazaa (or whatever they are out there) is breaking the law. Complaining about the crooks at the RIAA doesn't mean that it is not.


btw Jim - I don't know why anyone would want a Ford, but they are the second largest automaker out there. Somebody must.....

well i mean how would we listen to the music if we didn't buy the cd's? i mean the radio sucks ass after a while because radio stations will play a song out within a week..i mean you could hear the same song every 45 mins!! not to mention that it's not in it's true form because it's either edited for time and content, or the tempo is sped up to that it can fit into a 3 minute time slot...i'm not talking about distributing in the sense to make money, i'm talking about the fact that it's an alternative to buying pricey cd's and listening to played out singles and 15 minutes of commercials that come out of your radio's speakers......

Well if you don't want to buy them, but you still want to download them, then download music that is not protected by the bastard squad. Luckily, most of the music I like is older, so I just buy it from second hand record stores, then transfer it to tape so I can listen to it in my car (and this is legal, so long as you don't sell or give your copy to somebody - however you could let them borrow it idefinately)
