Re: DHP PRD Need answer!
Alright..first of all, you don't need ANY other mods to install a DHP PCM. BUT, you will not be getting your money's worth if you don't have at least some exhaust and intake improvements. You will also have to run PREMIUM gasoline for the car to perform right.
As far as a mechanic installing a DHP..I've never heard of it done. Nobody has ever needed a mechanic to do it for them. BUT, if you do take it to a dealership to have it fixed after the DHP is put in, they will most likely flash your PCM again. If that happens, you WILL have to pay DHP to redo your PCM if you want the improvements again. Neither the dealership nor DHP will take responsibility if that happens. This will also not GIVE you more top-end. It will remove the limiter, but there isn't much more Top-end there for you anyway past 110.

ok well yeah im getting finishing my exhaust out like this coming week, a whole new exhaust.
i just was asking about the installation, is it hard? havent really checked much into it. umm what does it really do? just makes your car run better, and have alittle more horsepower blahblahblah someone just told me to look into it because it would help a lot more. |

Go to www.clubgp.com and search the classified's. You should be able to get a stock PCM same year as your car for $60-70. Then just send that one to DHP or CYA and have them program that one. That way you save the cost of core charge and if you ever have to have work done on the car you can put the stock pcm back in. I bought a Stock PCM for my 98 GTP for $60 and had Mike D at Cya flash that. So now I can choose to run the DHP
or the CYA Racing ![]() The PCM's could possible give you more pull on the top end, especially if your car runs lean. Plug that DHP in and it wont run lean hopefully killing some KR and uping your timing thus uping your horsepower. I'm helping a local texas guy try to eliminate 8 deg of KR he's seeing with only a 3.4 pulley. His o2's are around .82 which is way lean(atleast I think so), and probably the cause of his massive KR Install takes maybe 10min, and that's just cause you have to remove the airbox to get to the pcm. Try to do as much of your own work on the car as possible, and hook up with your local club and go to some mod days. That is a great way to learn about these cars. Later, Tim |

One of the guys that was at our mod day back in May pulled off his cone after running it for a year (through the winter), and it was black. He'll be running a pre-charger this winter.

IMHO
I think that FWI is better, but realy they are the same.... only FWI is TRUE Cold Air Intake think about how hot it gets under the hood..... that is realy not CAI that is just better flow, but it is still sucking in hot air. I live in Indiana, and I have had no trouble with the FWI, reguarding the snow or anything.....

![]() http://www.digitalhorsepowerinc.com In the debate of FWI vs. CAI, I'm always for the FWI..as it draws air from an area further away from the hot engine bay. As far as a local club, I'm sure there is a ClubGP chapter in your state. Check out the club chaper listing at http://www.clubgp.com/clubgp/
