325is transmission swap

right now i own a 1987 325is and recently to transmission blew out on it. because of it being automatic and now the transmission being broken I thought this would be my chance to switch it into a manual for once. I have found a transmission that has came from a 1987 325i. my first question is how much would it approx cost to switch my automatic to a manual transmission , and two, would the 325i manual transmission fit inside my car? thanks for the help whoever can answer my questions.
