some questions

ok I'm getting bored on the forum today so I'm gonna start a new thread for not really I reason just to get some opinions or maybe even someone who knows some answers...

ok first of all I know the trust DD exhaust is supposed to be really loud on a N/A engine but being dual piping would it be an ok size for a N/A for like 4-5 months untill a turbo could be afforded and put in?

oh and what could I expect from an underdrive pulley?

also what kinda gains would be seen/felt with just rebuilding the engine(bore out 30, stroke, pistons, rings, flywheel, rods, cams, fuel rails, fuel injectors? then rebuild plus JWT ECU? thats with intake, header, ignition wires and plugs, and exhaust upgrades

head work (port and polish and such) worth the money?

also I know the difference in a dump pipe and a cat. conv. but does it make it louder? does it make it sounds better or worse? is their really much of a gain from a highflow cat. conv.? anything else I should know about either of them? oh and no emissions here in kansas so thats not an issue

think of all this with eibach springs, kyb agx shocks, 17x7 or 7.5 wheels with probably either falken, dunlop, or toyo performance tires if that means anything to you incase you want to guesstimate at any 1/4 mile or 0-60 times

Trust DD: waaaaay loud on N/A.. ear shattering probably, due to how deep it sounds on turbo, imagine.... high pitched n/a sound going thru 2 PIPES!!..

with an engine bore, u lose some of the engine response that u would in the stock block. but since ur thinkin drag, it shouldnt matter at all. with all that internal work, u'd be seeing some high 20 boost numbers for when u get the turbo. i know this cause it was done to my old bosses vr6 (www.strictlyeuropeanmotors.com) and he ran a huge turbo (t68, or 77 or seomthing, maybe even bigger)... and it ran at 30 psi (or 2 Bar boost) plus, u'd have to get low compression pistons, cause there is a cut away dish in the top of the piston that allows more air to fit in the cylinder, but with 3.0 litres, i dun think u really need that. cause if u would, u'd probably be lookin at 30 psi instead of high 20's. it will be somewhat of a vg30 with 2 cylinders slapped off with a hacksaw, then the block being ripped in half, and welded in-line. :P (j/k)

as for the highflow cat, or dump pipe. if emissions arent a problem, then get a dump pipe. u will actually hear the sound straight from the engine if ur exhaust isnt too restrictive. with an apexi n1 u'd head it so nice. and with a 3 litre 4cyl... u'd hear ALOT. basically. the honeycomb pattern that the cat houses to dampen sound and suck up emissions into those fabric cubes is all gone, so its just purely STRAIGHT. delivering performance that is only less than one without an exhaust system at all. like a fabricated side draft exhaust, specfically for draggin.

id go with smaller back wheels, but wider, and thicker rubber. like street slicks. and the front would be same size, but thinner and just normal road tires. one with a uniform tread. so they dont have to slide under high speed gunning. they will just rotated forward smoothly with no tread to grip with to create resistance.. but ur steering will be shot to hell, no doubt.

1320 times, im guessing with all that work, and since u wanna go turbo, id sayyyyyyyyy....11's, maybe even 10's if u weight reduce it and replace the gooey bushings to stiffen up the chassis for hard launches.

cause the vw just broke 9's, and its gutted, with 760 hp to the FRONT wheels, and it hooks onto the pavement with 26 inch slicks in 3rd gear. and it has a 6speed quaife unit if that counts.. i know it does cause i installed it, and the tranny extension has QUAIFE stamped on it in nice big red letters

hope that helped. and please dont americanize such a fine handling car

without a c at the exhaust sounds more reaspy in the rpm's. Some people don't like that sound. I love it lol! You should hear my broters Impala, its got Hooker headers, no cats, and a hooker catback, you can just rev it to about 5k and on the way down it sounds badass lol! Extremely loud and raspy

Im Pretty Sure a Dump Pipe is pretty much a 2ft long peice of pipe thats not hooked up to an exaust (just so the exaust clears the car) having something like that on a street car isnt gonna make the cops too happy no matter where you live (as in setting off car alarms a mile away)

A down Pipe - test pipe - Trust DD should get at least 25hp on a Turbo KA

7.5 is gonna be kinda dinky for that sorta power

you never mention what kinda turbo your gonna use but id say around 500

I plan on getting a garret turbo, probably a T04E but I'm still researching cuz I don't know a ton about turbos, just how they work, and they give you some nice speed but I don't know about the 700+ horsepower, sounds a little crazy to me but if you say so

hey ralphcare-
what was that comment about don't americanize such a fine handling car? I never said anything about the kinda tires you were talking about, I was talking about nice performance tires so I could handle good, cuz whats the use in power if its not controlable?

and I can't seem to think of the term for when the front tires are angled like /---\ so could someone remind me? and will this greatly increase handling ability?

I will eventually probably go with a highflow cat, rebuild the engine, add a garret T04E turbo(or maybe somethign else) JWT ECU, eibauch springs and KYB AGX shocks, strut tower bars, wheels and tires 17x7.5 215/45-17Z(or maybe w or y, lightweight flywheel, intake, downpipe, underdrive pulley, exhaust(not sure what I'll use untill I get enough to throw in the turbo though cuz the turbo will be like the last thing I do before body mods, except for 180sx taillights(gotta have those!) but probably HKS, just my preference) after turbo it'll be a trust DD exhaust though. hey check it out I got to use double brackets!!! oh and by the way, that all was in no specific order
I may have left some stuff out, its 11:30 and I'm tired so I can't really think that well

any estimates on torque/horsepower/0-60/1/4mile with most of these mods with out the turbo? and then again with the turbo? please throw some stuff at me here

this hasn't gotten very many replies, yet somebody can come on here and ask some ricer question and the thread has 30 replies in 2 days(if not less) I'm beginning to wonder if you all really like answering questions about 240's or just like talking smack on the ricers and honda guys...

enecks yes I think it is called camber... I was thinking its got a certain name for that type of tilt though, maybe its just camber though
