Question engines?

could i get a few explanations...or get pointed in the right direction to find the answers.
.
all around these forums i see b18a1, b18b1, b20, b16 turbo, c5, h22...etc
what are the differences between these engines?
what's better, what has turbo, what's the size (L), what cars do the different one's come in.
.
thanks,
i'd really appreciate some help on this.
i get more confused everytime i see these acronyms.

ok, here u go buddy...

the b/h simple stands for wut series motor. so a b18c1 is simply a part of the b series motors put out by honda.

the numbers b "18" or "16" simply are the size of the motor. b18b1 for example is a 1.8 liter. the b16 is a 1.6 liter.

the b16a came in TONS of different cars, the first was the late 80's crx in japan. then in the del sol vtec's an finally found its way into the civic sir/si (this is jus to name a few).

the b18b b18c motors are found in the integra line. the rs/gs/ls all (94-up) all came with the non-vtec b18b1. the gsr came with the b18c1, an the type r came with the b18c5.

for 2nd gen teggies, the lower models came with b18a1, and the gsr came with the b17a1 (only was out for 2 years...a shame really...).

the b20 that u've heard about is from the honda crv, hence "crVTEC" and of course it is a 2.0 liter motor.

the h22 is found in the prelude line, an as said before, it would be a 2.2 liter motor.

the best of the motors listed for turbo would be the b18b1 motor. the long gears and the low compression ratio make for the most ideal low-budget turbo motor. however, u could build the b16/b18c1 or 5 up to be much faster than the b18b1 with money.

hope this clears up a bunch.
