gel coat question

okay, I've read all the to fiberglass or not fiberglass threads and Boomer on here mentioned something about using a gel coat, sanding and painting for a smooth finish on interior work. My questions are, where to get this gel coating, how is it applied? will it adhere to anything, vinyl, plastic, metal and already painted trim? I want to do this to avoid the much more intense fiberglassing method. Thanks for any help.

Drew
