I once read The only way to get someone to love you is to stalk them until they fall in love with you or something like that.

Going to have to say that I don't buy that at all. Two people can easily fall in love with one another without any stalking involved. In a situation where one person is in love and other other is not, then a process where the person in love "courts" the other person to try to catch their fancy is conceivable, but not stalking.
