2000 Cherokee Jammed Back Latch

Hi, I've got a 2000 Cherokee and the back latch decided to stop working. Any tips on getting it open or easily accessing the locking mechanism? Any similiar problems out there?

Thanks

Have you tried spraying some WD40 or PB Blaster into the lock? I had a problem with the rear latch on my wrangler, thought for sure the latch had broken, but I sprayed some WD40 in there, and it worked like new!

The latch might be frozen(WD40 like Nick said or clean it good if that dont work) or the cable from the handle to the latch might be broken or have too much slack in it.
