Unhappy Help!! I accidentally reversed the jumper cables...

It was dark and I didn't have a good light. Needless to say, I reversed the jumper cables and the battery went stone dead. I bought a new battery and put it in and was able to get the lights to come on but it won't crank at all. I replaced a few bad fuses under the console...Does Nissan have any safegaurds to prevent the alternator from getting fried? Can someone please help me out here and let me know where I should check? Thanks a bunch.

Unhappy

man that sucks but it happens the thing that you need to do is look under your hood and in the black box that are some pwr fuses not the ones onder the dash those are for like the lights and the raido under the hood and check for any blown ones and if you own a (digital multi meter) you can check the voltage of the new batt and the alt you are looking for 10.00 volts or higher when the truck turns on to see if the alt is damaged check the batt with a (dmm) and is should read 12.64 volts or higher good luck -j

Yea I would check your fuses under the hood. Look for all the ignition fuses or at least tell you get it to turn over. if it does not crank check fuel pump fuse. Most auto makers keep in mind u may do this one day and add safe gaurds to keep u from frying the cpu. Hopefully you can find the problem and correct it. If a spike went to the alternator you will not know it until you get it to run to see if it will put out a charge.
