Question Should I get a 240sx with the situation I'm in?

The reason I ask is because I have a 98 Honda Civic Hatchback CX with low miles on it. I'd probably have to sell it to get the 240. It basically comes down to how reliable the 240sx is. I know my Honda (completly stock) will last me a VERY long time. I dont want to put anything into my honda, because I'm not into the Drag/Honda scene at all! Now believe me I'm not gonna get all ricey with the 240sx. I just dont want to get a 240sx, have a bunch of problems with it, and wish I kept the honda. Now obviously all cars will have their problems, but are 240s known to cause problems? Thanks

they have their quirks... but i don't think its rare to see 240's in perfect running condition with over 100-125k miles on them if they were taken care of ... mine is a 95, only has 47k miles on it though, the only thing i have had to fix was a dry rotted fuel line from the fuel pump that was leaking... other than that its great. Plus i don't think you buy a 240 for that honda last for ever quality... you buy one because they are the perfect car to build for someone thats not insanely rich.

A: Almost 50/50 weight distrobution
B: SR RB CA engine swaps give it the power that it needs to be a beast on the streets
C: They look good with just suspension and wheels
D: Insurance isn't as bad as the equivelent of a 240 with an engine swap

just a couple reasons for ya...

If you buy the 240 do you plan on doing anything to it? If you wanted to modify the car then the 240 would most likely be better than the honda..... From how your post, it sounds like you want to keep it stock. If you are going to keep it stock then IMO, keep the honda. I'm not saying this to keep you from buying a 240, but I've owned 2 honda's, well one was actually mine, and I had ZERO problems with them the whole time I drove them. My first car was a 91 civic dx w/ 70k miles on it. I still drove the piss out of that thing and I never had 1 single problem with it. After I sold the honda and was in the process of looking for a 240, I was driving my dad's 98 GSR (acura, honda...same thing) which I loved and considered buying off of him. Once again I pushed it to redline non-stop and didn't have a single problem with it. Honda's are probably the most reliable cars out there IMO.

I've had the 240 for a little over a year now and haven't had any major problems with it. The only thing that screwed up was my EGR valve. It was an easy fix and I would have just ditched it if it wasn't for the gay/semi-strict inspections here. Other than that, the 240 has been fine.

My ECU keeps bugging me about the EGR function.

How could I get rid of it?

No inspections or SMOG checks here in Kansas

Now that I look at my post it does look like I would want to keep the 240 stock. However, if I were to get a 240 I would work on it a lot. Save up (for a looong time) for a swap, then move on to suspension, then onto other things. I would definantly like to get into some drifting later on, but I do understand that getting used to RWD and the car in general will have to happen first. So, to answer your question: Yes, I do plan on tuning it.

I meant the EGR valve itself not the check engine light.

You said you would've ditched it,I wanna know how you would've gone on about doing that.

It's $70 at autozone, almost the same price as some subframe spacers...

Hmm I could care less about the enviroment...

oh ok. Just pull everything off and then your going to need a m24x1.5 plug to plug up the exhaust manifold hole
