Re: custom gran am hood

yea, hood is waste of 600 - 700 dollars, i got one off ebay, imabout to resell it, just makes it look nicer, but doesnt fit my style. it weighs the same, only thing you may benifit from is a CF hood, even at that you wont benifit from it on the street only the track mabie by .01 to .1 seconds... i would say just cut a square or rectangle hole in the center of your hood w/ a dremel tool, sand the sides, cover the cutted spot with some sort of trim, then apply mesh inserts under the hood, now its custom and u get air into your hood, and you can even see your engine! (actually im thinking of doing this my self, but a little different then stated )

correction to the weight to speed thing: I was looking into this and it is said for every 100 lbs shaved off you loose .01 seconds on your QM time

Re: custom gran am hood

Thats just the SCT hood that comes on grand ams with the SC/T kit. nothing great or new.

if you want a hood go to www.andysautosport.com for 92-95 GA's and 96-98 and 99+ go to www.aedcentral.com those are the only two places that make a hood besides RSM that makes a CF hood for the 99+
