engine horsepower?

right now i own a civic. but i want to sell it solely for the purpose of getting a 240sx--any year--because i wanna get the s15 headlight conversion. i'm familiar with swapping the sr20det engine n all that, but my question is...how much hp on average would u get out of that? cuz i want a fast car, part of the reason y im sellin my civic, i dont wanna put lots of money into it to make the civic fast. plus there r lots of civics around here and everywhere, and i have not seen a single s15 conversion around here. i was thinkin about gettin a bmw, but not much u can do for those, that i know of at least. ive seen some 240s for a good price so i figured i'd sell mine, put part of the money for a down payment, use other money for conversion and exhaust n such. i saw somewhere that the stock 240's have 140 hp, but i dno how much hp the sr20det one has. any info would help thnx

depends on which sr20det engine you get s13, s14, s15....s13 which is the most common engine swap into a 240 comes with 205hp....as for stock motor i think it can handle some higher boost dont remember quite how much psi but can boost it up get somethin like 250hp without modding engine... but you'll need a boost controller of course....and as for stock 240's (KA24DE) they come with 155hp...oh yeah and there is a lot of stuff for bmw's but have fun paying for that stuff...extremely expensive.Theres probably some more threads (like 240sx info on the top of the 240sx main page) that you can look at to give you some more info...or other peeps...anywho...ditch the civic and get that 240....

the honda would be a far cheaper way to get a fast car. parts are way more easily accesible and LOTS cheaper. i put 3 g's into performance and i still run a low 17.

you haven't seen one with the s15 conversion because it's damn near impossible. that's a honda. this is a nissan. if you want an s15 front end go out and buy an s15. don't ghetto rig it so that you have an older car looking newer just in the front because it just looks bad. it doesn't match at all. the s14's you might be able to pull it off but just please don't. there are enough ugly 240's out there already.

your options are between an old 240 with a new end conversion or for a bmw. those are freakin radicle different cars. make up your mind if you want to rice out another car or go live in the lap of luxory.

89's have 135hp (do to different compression ratio - but same engine as 90)
90's have 140hp
91+ have 155hp

the fasted year out of any year 240 completely stock is the 91 coupe, due to hotter cams and the light body. the engines are all 2.4L v4

sr20det has 205hp. but it has a smaller engine, 2.0L v4
rb20det has 215hp. same 2.0L engine but now an inline v6.
rb25det has 250hp. bigger engine... 2.5L v6
rb26dett has 280hp (real number is around 315hp, but jap laws and regulation made them say it was 280hp) - 2.6L v6

a normal posting like this would have almost immediately resulted in a posting of IMHOIDTWSATFR, by myself and many others in this forum. but i thought that this was worthwhile to post because i don't want to see one more honda guy (besides those well educated and have a liking of the classic 240 body style) get ahold of a 240. i think i speak for 90% of the people here.

i also gave you all the other engine hp ratings because another question asked here would probably be asking about the rb engine or a different kind of conversion (ahem.. silvia... ahem..)

ike, you know what to do

ok mynismo don't use your car as an example because if you put 3 grand under the hood and run low 17s you did something wrong, first off you have an auto so you'll be a little slower because of that, stock 240s with 5spd can run like 16.3 with a decent driver, 15.9 with a great driver, although thats for the 91-93 with 155 base hp but with 15-20 less your not gonna lose a second off your time, although with it being auto it might be about a second less, but with 3 grand in it you should atleast be in the high 15's...

This aint locked dude!

I am holding in, with every ounce of strengh, not flaming you.

I am going to make a statement, I will never say again, but for the sake of our cars.

Do an S15 conversion on your Civic. Anything. Just please, do not buy our cars. I know I say this often guys, but isnt this what we(I'm referring to the elitist guys) have dreaded all along?

Now for some friendly advice. BUY A BMW!!! I drive one, and Im telling you, you will NEVER Look back. Those straight 6's are dead powerfull, and there are as many BMW Tuners as Nissan tuners, Dinan, AC Szhnizter etc. all make Superchargers, and you CAN turbo them since there straight 6s. Try a turbo M3

No if you woulndt mind getting out of here that would be splendid. You have been givin the information you need, and have emerged relatively unsacthed compared to some others, who, frankly, didnt deserve it. You did deserve a flame job, but Im trying to reform my ways.

That is all

just to clarify.

you drive your dad's BMW for ten seconds a day with your mom in the passenger seat.

stop trying to make it sound like it's yours and you drive it daily.

thread is NOW closed.
