well if its an 86.5 an mk3 then it looks like mine. if it runs thats a good price. you can allways clean up a car over time. as long as it runs decently.

Re: 1986 supra is it a good car
Only buy it if it's had the head gasket replaced and the bolts tourqed down good I bought a 91 Turbo with a blown engine for 2k. The head gaskets go bad around 100k miles on most MK3 supras. I wouldn't have even considered buying an old supra as an only vehicle until I know it's fixed up good.

Re: 1986 supra is it a good car
got the car for free .
n spent 2k for gasket ,valve job, used head, labor, due to overheating, check the plastic valve heading to yur heater.if worn can cost u $300plus .bypass it to avoid the cause the over heating and h20 in the cylinder. |

Re: 1986 supra is it a good car
I have owned from 82 supra single turbo to 3 86.5 mk3s and have found them all to be extremely reliable if driven well and have brought a few that have had problems and have made them all run very smooth eventually and are maintaining my latest mk3 very well...
