91 camry groggy on accel

hey, im new to this whole thing but i just had a question bout my car...

i just got a automatic trans. 1991 toyota camry from a family member, and i drove it on a 160 mile trip to bring it to my home and it was great...but, within the last day or so its been behaving odd. when i come to a stop then try to accelerate, the car seems very groggy in the transition b/w 1st and 2nd gear... i have to either avoid a complete stop or press my foot on the gas fairly hard for it to jump into action (or ive had to restart the car and switch out of overdrive which seemed to work last time)

does n e one hav an idea as to what this could be? it seems awfully early mile-wise for any transmission problems so im not sure what this is.
