I only used gloss engine paint, no primer or clearcoat. I just painted it the other day so I don't know about it dulling over time... I doubt it will though because it's gloss paint.

I was gonna do the same thing a while back but I was detered when a friend told me the hi-temp paint stinks. Any truth to that?
