Unhappy Do neons have breaking problems?

I recently picked up a 2000 Plymouth Neon with 19k on it. When the breaks get used alot like on some monster hills here, the breaks get extremely hot and smell bad. Its under warranty but I am just wondering if there are any on going problems with these cars. I heard that dodge pick ups go through rotors alot, is this the case with these?
THis is not from riding the breaks the whole way down the hill either, I use my other vehicles down the same hill and no problem.
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

Have you replaced your pads recently? If they are newer and you are riding them downhill yes they will smell. Different cars handle downhill/riding breaks differently. I havent had any problems with my Neon going downhills, but my last car, a 93 Escort didnt handle the same hills/brake conditions as well as my Neon.

thanks for the reply. I would hope that the dealer didn't put new pads on already. It only has 19k on it. I do my own work on my cars and have never had a smell like this before except when the caliper went bad on my van and got stuck on. I hope this car wasn't a mistake. Now today the trunk wont open and more. It clicks but wont open. I read a post earlier calling these throw away cars lol I guess they weren't kidding. I am bringing it back but I was just curious if they have had problems in the past.

my brakes squeak a little when they're cold, but after they heat up I have no problem and performance is never really noticably affected. but still my car has about 55k miles on it so I'm trying to pull together some money to put some more brake pads on it, I believe that'll fix my squeaking problem. and about your trunk, are you using the button inside the glove compartment to open it? if so, mine doesn't open on the first press of the button, it will click but it won't open all the way. so I just push the button again and normally it works. try pressing it forcefully two or three times and it should open. if not, use your key...
