Question

Okay, just a quick question. Maybe it's a little strange but...

What's the deal with 64 impalas? I mean, you hear a lot of rappers talking about their impalas, and it seems like they're always 64's. I was just wondering what the deal is with this year? For impalas, and any car for that matter.

1964

I don't know what's the deal with the '64, but it is a safe bet it was fast.

I kind of doubt this, but an Automobile Magazine (perhaps Motor Trend) reviewed the 1960 Impala SS, and reported a 0-60 time of 4.0 seconds!! Obviously either a typo, as nothing (certainly not of stock production class) went that fast 40 years ago, or this thing was putting down some serious power, considering the amount of mass it had to move. I would think that these stats would be widespread bragging material, and yet i've hardly ever heard a peep about them, so it's probably misinformation.. but then again you never know.....

The deal is, they look cool! Although those pics aren't very good examples.

The highest spec cars were pretty fast.

The reason why a lot of rappers talk about their '64 impalas is cuz they are tight ass cars on those two pics give them a nice paint job and spoke rims and u'll have a babe magnet :bandit:

Basically they make the best lowriders. I prefer the 65 impalas though. A lot of west coast kats be rocking them. Once you put the hydraulics on 'em, they become very entertaining.

*Hit the switch and get's three wheel motion*

Not a '64 but, Oh Well!!

The 1964 Impala is proper, thats why its the most popular lowrider. The worlds most famous Lowrider is a 1964 Impala, but I can't find any pictures of it, these are only select few from my lowrider library. The last two pictures aren't 64s but they still have the same main body shape, just there for an idea.

61-64 Impalas are more sought after for lowriding for several reasons...
1. Very big trunks to put hydraulic pumps and Batteries
2. Very sturdy frame...Little reinforcement is needed unless 3 wheeling and hopping are in your plans
3. Traditionally, they have been rolling impalas in the bigger car clubs in Cali since the 70's

Here is a link to my 63 I recently sold not too long ago:

i don't believe you don't know the deal with 64 impala's they are the best car's that were ver made in my opinion. and the rappers, like them because of the way that tey look when they are lowered. and the size of engine that they have doesn't hurt.
