OKay, first off, I admit I do not own a 240sx, so please do not hate on me. I have not read super street, nor do I for the very reasons we are all pissed off in this forum. It is mostly smack and very little truth. Ricky Chu's comments are indeed misleading, and I completly see why is pissed everyone off. Hell, I don't own a 240sx and it upsets me. Smack talk has a place in a magazine like Star or Globe, not a so-called "car magazine." I know a little about the 240sx, enough to know that the ka24de is buy no means a bad engine. Chu bashing on it just serves to mislead people new to the hobby who are looking for honest info, and that makes his comments all the more wrong. The ka24de is a very good motor. A turbo kit and some mods, and it's bad as hell. Of the people I have know with modded 240sx's, the one who had the turbo'd and modded ka blew the doors off the sr20det. Even in SCC, when they put an sr in there "project silvia," After lots of mods, a new turbo, etc, it was still in the low 13's. At least SCC was somewhat honest, they presented 4 ways to turbo a 240sx, and option number 1 was the turbo the ka24de. So what if it was organially a truck motor. It has more displacement, and I have seen plenty of built-up ka24de's faster than built sr20dets. Plus, I know there are a few parts on the sr20det that are "from japan only" when they need replacing. For Ricky Chu to bash on a perfectly good motor like he does just shows how ignorent and stupid he is being. The sad thing is, some not in the know with the 240sx people might actually read it and belive him. For the record, if I ever get a 240sx, I plan to turbo the ka24de, not put in a sr20det. To me, it's about Performance over show with a motor.

while i totally agree with everything you said, i just have to pick at one point. the SR20DET is by NO MEANS "just for show", as you implied. it is a very competent motor, and while it may cost more to install/upgrade then a KA24, it can still very easily get up there in the HP numbers and down there in the 1/4 times. it's an all around competent engine and i HATE how it's becoming so that people assume that if you put an SR in your car, you must be for "show". i'm putting an SR in my car, but if you think i'm for show, then you'd better think twice.

All of your points are valid...

Everything you guys & (Girl) have said are very valid points... Who is Ricky Chu to "Dictate" what is good, and what isn't... He has never owned a Turbo 240sx(Ka24de)... So therefore he cannot comment on the engines potential. He has chosen the route that alot of 240sx tuners have chosen, and thats the Sr20deT... This thread was merely to point out that Ricky Chu however a 240sx tuner (in his own GAY! way) Is a complete moron... I think this issue that he wrote was to merely piss off the people who told him that he is nothing but a SHOW CAR BTICH "Forrest Gump">> Thats all I got to say about that.

Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound as if a sr20det is only for show. Buy no means is that true. I realize you can get good power from one. I was merely trying a convay a point that Ricky Chu's bashing of the ka24de is unfounded. The ka24de can smoke if it's turbo'd and built, and I was only trying to convay how wrong I felt the view of the "ka" being a bad motor was. I think the view of the sr20det being only for show is similar to how in the honda forum, some people view that a b-series swap is only for show and trend followers. Again, untrue. The sr20det is not a bad motor, but for Ricky Chu to bash theka24de like he did is ignorant and dumb, as we all know that the ka motor can kick ass when built.
