Question Replacing rear speakers 98 civic coupe

I just bought 6x9 rear speakers to replace the stock ones.. In my 98 honda civic coupe but i cant figure out how to get the plate(grill) off... sounds stupid, but i asked someone i knew and they said they broke off the little plastic white pieces trough the trunk...? Others say to just take a screwdriver and pry it off, Does this sound right? Please let me know.. Thanks

what u need to do is fold the seats down and like every thing in a civic, carefully pry apart from rear deck. it does have plastic fasteners. using a short screwdriver remove rear spkrs. dont do this on a hot day, u will fry!!!!!

Another thing i noticed is that the little clip that connects the stock speaker doesnt fit the new speakers should i just cut the clip and connect the wires straight?

Yes, that is how you're gonna have to hook them up.

As for how to get to them, like said you'll have to fold down the seats, unscrew the bolts to the child seat anchors (if your car has them) and carefully pop loose the clips that hold the rear shelf deck in place, and slide it out straight TOWARDS you. You'll have to bend the ends to get them from behind the sorta lip that's there. You should see what I mean when you do it. Oh, and DON'T FORGET that before you slide out the shelf deck, make sure the FIRST unhook to cable harness that goes to the 3rd rear brake light that in the window, you wouldn't want to rip the wires to that. Good luck with the install.
