Smile D16a1

O.k. someguy is giving me a D16A for free... FREE!!!... I want to take this motor becuase it alot cleaner and has les mile then the motor my d16A has... OK... So i want to get has much power as i can out of this motor... I'm thinkin about turbo charging it with a eclipse motorsomthing small and run about 5 pounds of boost... will this be any good? has anybody done this before ? Has anybody succeeded ? website would be great to if anybody has one. AND A FORUM ON THIS MOTOR WOULD BE FANTASTIC. I heard today at a car gathering that a guy with a d16a was running 12.3's with this motor turbo and stock internals ??? Is this guy bullshitting ???? O and the eclipse turbo for this i might get free o.k. i need help fast thanx!

D16 rods have been known to be weak. In magazines, they say D16 rods break at 220 HP, I know someone( ) who broke them at 135 HP while roadracing and it was all-motor. It would be a good idea to change the rods

Yeah, 220hp is about all you get get out of the stock rods, unless you want to get them shot peened for a little more extra strength. I know a guy right now pushing a few over 200hp out of his STOCK D15b7 (supposedly the weakest of the D-rods) and all he has done is cam, springs retainers, intake mani off another D-motor, and a 50-shot Zex kit. He runs in the 14's currently. High 14's though.

If you want a good place to get help on your D-series (these are D-motor experts here) check out this link. Good info there.

I would like to get 300hp to the wheels at least out of this motor is this possible??? i can prorrly change some of the internals like cam and rods to reach this goal
