Civic 93 overheating

My Civic 93 is overheating (according to the gauge), the fan was not going off so I changed the fan switch, now the fan is working but it only goes off when the indicator is close to the red line, so I'm wondering if the new fan switch would have different specifications than the original, is this a possibility?

I noticed that the engine takes a while to warm up but once it's hot not even the fan cool it down, could it be something else? thermostat? although the upper radiator hose is hot so I assume the coolant is circulating.

when the car is idle with the engine running the temperature is really steady, as soon as I rev up the engine I notice the temperature goes up.

(I also had to change the radiator)

Is there any tip that I can follow?

Try changing the thermostat. It aslo might be the coolant when was the last time you change the coolant?
