whats that funny smell?

I took my dash off to repaint it because the crappy rubber coating was a bit f***ed and the other night a strange smell has started to come through my vents. It smells a bit like rubber heating up or burning and Ive noticed that even when my climate control is set to low my windscreen def is still pumping out hot air? could this be because Ive got my dash off and a sensor or something has gone a bit screwey or has something else gone wrong?

My girlfriend said it smelt like cats piss....I dont want my car to smell like cats piss. Its a Skyline!!! If anything the burning rubber smell should be coming from my tyres damn it!

If anyone has had the same experience your comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,

when you replaced the dash assembly did you reconnect that big rubber hose? That rubber hose is a vacuum air temp sensor, it sucks air from the cabin and measures the temperature via a sensor and relays it back to the climate control processor. This processor is calibrated to pick up temperatures from one place only and if the hose is not reconnected to the right place it will give a false reading thus causing the processor to over adjust. Make sure the hose is attached properly to the nipple on the back of the dash assy. The nipple is directly behind the set of vanes near the winscreen wiper arm.

Morra is right dude.....the rubber hose has probably come adrift....

....but the cat piss smell is the heater matrix on it's way out....trust me, I know.......
