exhaust???

What is a good way to sqeeze a few extra horsepower out of an exhaust.

I don't want to pay alot because my band is always on tour so I am sitting in a van alot. I don't plan on racing it or anything I just want my car a little faster for myself.

So inexpensive suggestions. Are glass packs even worth it for what I want to do?

or what about this click here

Exhaust Mods.

Hey bro,

I hear ya on not spending a lot of money. Most tuners think that if they don't buy the Stainless muffler that booms that their mod is no good.
I am budget conscious mainly because I use cars up for my work about every 4-5 years.

Being on the road most days I definitely needed more power. I went to a reputable muffler shop and asked for larger diameter tubing starting at the exhaust manifold. Most exhaust manifolds then dump into a collector which in later years has some pre-cat packing which can be removed for better flow. I removed the packing and had the mechanic re-pipe from this point with aluminized steel @ 2 1/4 I.D. I also had him replace the restrictive Cat with a universal high flow 2 1/4 inch Cat. This is followed by a 2 1/4 x22" resonator. From there we pipe out (still 2 1/4") to the muffler which is a chambered turbo muffler. (quiet with great flow charactoristics. All of this for $220.00 + labor.

The results. Less buffeting of the air in the intake because the exhaust can now keep-up with the flow better, which makes it quieter.
A definite gain in horsepower and torque. Because the muffler was chambered the torque gains were better than I thought they would be.
Better off the line. Yes! Freeway passing. Much better. Less labored and quicker response, harder pull. Probably 7-8 horsepower. (Note: most guys leave the stock cat and just add cat back. Stock cats are one thing. -A bottleneck which inhibits flow. High flow cat makes a big diff.

Add an in take and throttle body, Remap the fuel a bit and you will notice a big diff from stock.

Hey man what kind of music does your band play? I play guitar (26 yrs)
60s -90s rock, blues, jazz, and quite a bit of funk / fusion lately.

Rock-on bro

There is a header on e-bay you can buy for 200 with shipping but it is a real pain in the ass to put on because of the tranny mount for you original exhaust. Bend that out of the way and you get a real agressive sound and lots of power. I have the header and straight through muffler with cold air and a chip and my car flies. Depends on how far you go with it. Cold air and a muffler will do just fine though.

hope this helps out a little more.

my mods gave me about 20+ hp
