Question Anybody That Can Help

TO ALL

Hi there,
I'm thinking of buying a E36 320i or 318is manual, I'm still a bit unsure if it would be a good buy or not for a first car. the thing is that I'm a huge BMW patriot and I have vowed to own a BMW from day one to the day I die. My main worry is the maintenance and fuel. In my country petrol ai'nt cheap(South Africa), so i'm really looking for something that won't be too heavy on the pocket. if anybody out there can give me some advice on owning a 320i or 318is please help.
I would also like some tips on what flaws (if there are any) to look for when buying a second hand beemer.
Thanx

The fuel economy on either is nothing to worry about, it will be comparable to any other 4 door sedan. Maintenance, not that bad either, just have the car checked out by a mechanic before buying, check brakes, compression test, etc. Good luck to you and your new purchase.
