Question Aarrrghhh

Hey Guys,

I posted this up on the other bboard before, but didn't really get many responses.....

I am STILL having problems with my Tacho. It works intermittnetly (sometimes 5 mins, sometimes 30mins) but mostly it just winds itself up slowly. I have taken it to a instrumentation specialist, but they wont touch her cause she is a import (BAH!). ANY SUGGESTIONS BEFORE I RIP THE DASH APART AND HAVE A LOOK FOR MYSELF???:help:

Thanks guys!

Not too sure if I can help you but...

I have only had my R33 for a few moths and have already taken the whole dash board out twice.... There really isn't that many things that can go wrong. Just have a close look at all the wiring behind the tacho... maybe play around with them.

I had a problem with the dash lights going out while I was driving so took it apart and played around with the wiring and found a loose connection...

Works fine now...

Cheers
Rob

Did you have any issues with taking out the dash, etc? I have pulled half of the centre console apart recently, and that was pretty straight forward, but I am worried that the dash may be a bit more complex. Any problem areas or things I should look out for?

Thanks heaps!

Before you do that, fuck around with all the connections etc in the engine bay, everywhere, for the tacho. have someone in car revving, and fuck around with things, see if it changes stuff.

Amen Slip!
Do that first, make sure that the coil (I think thats what the tach is attached to) has no broken wires, then go to the dash because if the tacho winds up slowly, it could be an issue with the coil connections.

Do you mean the igniter pack at the back of the rocker cover?

Its really wierd that the tacho works for a bit and then it falls over and dies.... My initial idea was the sender of the tacho signal (does the ECU use that for anything?) or the actual meter itself.
