Hi, I know I am probably asking a question in which I could find the answer in the Q & A section but I am at work attempting to do this without my boss poping up and catching.
I need some advise. I have a 90' 240SX and it ran perfectly until three weeks ago. I never used any oil or water it ran like a champ. Then my upper radiator hose got a pin hole leak in it and I realized it do to my car overheated. But it didn't go all the way. So I thought while replacing the upper hose I'd replace the two bottom hoses. Well my car still was getting hot. So I replace the thermastat. It still got hot. So I replaced the radiator cap. No change. Still getting hot. I had my radiator presure tested and they said my radiator was great. My water pump isnt leaking or making noise so I kinda ruled that out. But my car is not well. Help... Could it be a head gasket? But there is no trace of water in the oil. Please some give me some advice on what to do. I can't afford to purchase another car but I can't keep nickle and diming myself to death either. stilbreathing

It sounds like a headgasket...maybe get a professional mechaince to check things over...its hard to diagnose this kinda stuff via the net.

take off your radiator cap, and warm up the engine. If the coolant just kind of pours out then it shouldn't have a head gasket leak. BUT, if you notice bubbles coming out of the radiator, then it definitely is the head gasket. The reason you don't see any mixing is that it could be small and no where close to the oil. All it takes is a little leak and you're screwed. If its not that, check the sensor itself, that could be it too.

damn you guys beat me to it. bleed the system. the 240's cooling system is extremely sensitive to air. you must and i say MUST bleed the entire system for all air. even alittle bit of air will make your car over heat. i would know, i changed my radiator twice along with water pump and fan clutch. some dick pour speed dry into my first radiator and all that shit fucked my system up, and then my intercooler pipe was hittin my second radiator and broke an hole in it. lolz so i know a thing or 2 about the cooling system now.
