Leaf Blower???

I have a friend that just came into town to do a B16A swap into his 91' Integra. He blew his B18 last visit down. He told me about one of his friends that was going to put an electric leaf blower on his civic. He is going to install it in his intake. He said he is going to use a converter to handle the ac power, and rig it so it is variable speed attached to the throttle so the harder he presses the throttle the more boost he gets. He said it will put out as much boost as a small turbo. My question is, how stupid is this, and how much stuff do you think he'll break!

This is retarded.

Let your friend do it, then laugh at him when he blows his car up

when he gets pulled over by the police for making excessive noise (leaf blowers are extremely loud), then he can explain to the police officer that he has a leaf blower in his car... then the officer will give him a nice big fat ticket, and he can explain it to the judge in court...and then it will raise his insurance..

sure he can do it... will it work? maybe it will give him SOME more air in the cylinders.. and he can possibly blow the engine aswell by forcing too much air into it during shifts or whatnot.. cars arent made to just slap on other motors and have them work.

if u wanna be safe, try it with a hair dryer.. my friend did that, but he claimed it "consumed too much gas" but he had no problems... sounded like a supercharger... but the whole "sounds like" thing is for ricers with horns that make pShhhhhhhhhhhh!!! sounds so everyone thinks they have turbo...

so id have to say... ur friends an idiot.

I actually thought about doing a similar thing with a 2-stroke gas blower on my drag probe... it would have been plumbed with PVC or ABS pressure pipe and had like 3 BOV's on it to get rid of the boost pressure when shifting, at idle, etc... have the thing mounted on the hood with a 1.5" chunk of PVC entering the right front fender...

I guess it would have been more for shock value than anything else, just something to do to keep the ricers thinking it was my secret...

Ehh.... The real question is, why the hell is he putting a B16 in? I understand they produce 160+ but they make no torque... He'd be better off putting a newer B18 in there...
