SR20DET and autocross?
From what I've read the SR20DET is more suited for "drifting" and road racing (the "twisties" as someone referred). So I assume the SR would be a prime choice for auto-x as well?

yeah, since twisties, drifting and road racing are all incorperated into auto-x, yeah its a prime choice.

I'd think the courses in auto-x would be too small to drift effectively? But I don't know much about drifting.

no actually it would not be... the KA is much better suited for autoX competition than the SR..
A few reasons, The KA has more torque, lower in the power band... NO turbo lag to get the engine into its powerband... The biggest killer of time in an autoX for these cars would be going into and then especially out of a tight hairpin... left foot braking, in, then punching the throttle to get out while still in second gear causes the engine to bog a bit coming out of the hole.. in my experience, even doing a heel/toe downshift trying to get into 1st causes an issue because our Nissan transmissions do not like to be downshifted into first at these speeds. |

Wouldnt the biggest killer be having to run in the Modified class against big ballin Porsche and stuff...?

Hmmm, well I think that would depend on your suspension & handling setup too (as for classes). Hmm...
