Juvey, it's too soft on future criminals.

Well I started this thread because of the police eating the glass filled burgers in the other thread.

My question is why do these kids get off so lightly compared to being tried as an adult?

Honestly, I would like to know the same thing. I figure that as long as they are aware of what it is that they do, they should be punished as though they are an adult, or at least to a lesser degree that is just as suitable. I really do think though, that in the next ten years we will see more teens tried as adults.

I agree with both of you. The one thing I'm sick of hearing is blaming movies, music, tv, or whatever other nonsense these worthless people can think up. These lawyers and such that try and play this sort of Chewbakka defense, need to wake up and realize that no one(trouble makers) is going to realize how much trouble, and hurt and anger they cause until they take up for their own actions. We need to be harder on these criminals as it is. They don't need all these freedoms that they get in jail, such as cable tv. Hell, the only thing they deserve is a newspaper to hopefully expand their reading knowledge.

The Chewbacka defense:

"It does not make SENSE!!!!"

HILLARIOUS!

And BTW why do thet give them cable T.V.??? So they can watch porn? Hopefully they have restricted the viewing to the Disney Channel.

In fact I saw a jail that only has two channels on the T.V. And they were the Disney Channel, and the Weather Network....and the only reason why they had the Weather Network was so that they could see how hot it was the next day.

I think it was on TLC. Not sure though.

Kids always whine about not being treated as adults - except when they do something wrong.

I am a Adult corrections Officer here in Kansas, and attached to our facility, is a Juvinile detention center. One thing to realize, is they have rules and guidelines to follow, that are set by the state and SRS. There are certain ways the kids have to be treated, due to them being kids. regardless if they aremini hoodlums or not. At the juvy center, they get snacks at night, and get to play nintendo, but they also have to go to school every day, have to follow a strict diet, told when to shower, when to sleep, when to clean their rooms, when to talk. They can't share food with other people, even if they bought it themselves from the commisary. But, the gaurds have to write progress reports on every kid at the end of the day. Kansas Dept of Education and SRS are there every day checking on these kids. any infraction is met with severe fines and penalties. So, thats why juvy is "easy" to you, because they are bascially handicapped in what they can do. And its not going to change, because its what the state, and parents think how they should be treated.

In this country,it appears to be virtually impossible to get an underage criminal locked up.They just keep getting slapped with the wet bus ticket until they get sufficient contempt for the law to go out and kill someone.

Yes Ray I remember it all to clearly. Those two...whats the words I am looking for...oh yeah scumbags have gotten off very lightly in my books. They were old enough to know what they were doing is wrong. They killed a beautiful little kid and in the process ripped a family apart. And what do they get for it, a few years in a detention centre and have now been given new identities, there families have gotten new homes and cars and jobs. Its sick. The courts actually protected them. In my mind they should never have been released.

all the little buggers in England that commit crimes get away with almost anything untill they're over 15 or something like that.

There really should be a curfew so that the little bastards aren't out after 8pm until 5am the next morning.
