Spoon in a 1st gen
Ok, check this out. i have a friend, he bought a spoon engine that he wants to put into an 87 crx hf. Now we know that he is goin to have to fabricate his own mounts, but i was wondering if anyone knows which Transmission would work best for it, and which trannys will bolt onto it. Please give me all the info you guys have on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

what type of engine is it? there are like a thousand engines spoon has built, but im guessing its either a B16 or B18. either way, custom fabricated mounts and LOTS of wiring work will be required, as well as custom axles.

First the 87 is a second generation honda, the B16A, B16B, B17A, B18A,B,C, and the B20B can be put into it, your tranny out of you 87 should bolt on, you can get new engine mount kits for the swap from Hasport. Also check ot http://tech.hybridgarage.com for tips on doing the swap.

ok, 87 is a third gen. i highly doubt that the tranny will bolt up to any of the B series engines, as the 87's used D series engines or other carbeurated motors.

You can take an 88 tranny and bolt in up to a 93 vtec, you use the same axles, there is a lot of mods for engine mounts, supports, but that is the easiest combo to do.
