i installed a short shifter into my 98 civic ex, but now my shifter is rubbing on the exhaust pipe...are there any easy fixes for this??

Aftermarket exhaust? The easiest fix if the shifter is installed correctly would be to have the exhaust pipe bent slightly & not beat with a hammer.

do this
on every civic if you put a short shift on it will rub the exhause in N or 5 or R depending on the conditions of the exhaust mounts(how far it makes the pipes hang down) you need to just drop the exhaust from the rubber hangers and cut off the heat shield in between the exhaust pipe and the shifter linkage.

Don't remove any upper heatshields, they are there for a reason.

unless you live in alaska and are looking for all the heat in the interior that you can get!!!!

I removed the heat shield on mine and it works fine...I recently got the B&M short shifter to replace my generic one from ebay...can't wait to install it
