I'm considering using my 1992 Nissan Maxima SE (manual trans, 150K miles) to tow a trailer from Miami to Phoenix in August (that is, it'll be a frickn' hot drive from start to finish).
I'm concerned about overtaxing the engine (including, but not limited to, overheating) and/or the brakes. Are there any mods I can do to help with these issues? For examle, I know that auto trannys use a transmission cooler, but I've only found an engine oil cooler for manual cars. What are the best/necessary improvements to make? Also, if anyone has suggestions on a good hitch and/or place to purchase - all the better. I've heard drawtite is the best, but if others feel differently, let me know. Thanks for any and all assitance. - M. |

How heavy is the trailer around? I mean 1992 car, suspension(unless you've changed it recently) would probably be a lil shitty... and with the extra weight... hmmm

Well, the suspension hasn't been changed recently - or at all.
The full tow weight it around 1500lbs. I know the car is only rated at 1000, but I think in Europe the same car is rated at 3000. Point is, I think it can take the weight, but that's a new car -- and mine ain't new. - M. |

I wouldn't take any chances. Rent a truck.
