Creaky Rear Tires
Howdy folks,
Picked up a used 1999 Civic EX. Drives very well. Bought from Honda dealer. One concern: Individually, both back tires (or the region) creak when they go over dramatic bumps. Sometimes even moderate ones. Probably happens when hitting 80% of non-smooth road. The handling's fine. And the sound is the exact same on each side -- which side it comes from depends on which side hits bad road. Any ideas? Should I take it back to the dealer to have a look? Thanks greatly for any help. |

Stock or lowered suspension?
Sounds like maybe your suspension bushings are worn, struts bad, or bushings in need of some grease. I know the bushings are sealed, but they still should be greased every so often @least every 15K in my opinion. |

Thanks for the reply.
I don't think the suspensions been touched since the car got off the assembly line. Gonna drop by my dealer on Monday and have him check it out (will bring your message as well). Just saw a technical service bulletin regarding the 99 civic that deals with a creaky rear suspension. Hope it's no big deal. |

While your there have them run a VIN status on your car. That checks for any open recalls & recalls completed w/ other info about the car.
TSB#00-006 DEC 01 Suspension - Rear Suspension Clunk/Squeak Noise They should cover all the repairs, atleast the dealer i worked would have. Speak to the Used car manager before you go in for service & then they should kiss your ass for a good survey since thats all they really car about. |
