Arrow Sport luxury

Hey All,

I joined the lincoln community a couple months ago when I bought a black 1997 Continental. So far, I absolutely love it...even though Continental purists generally shun the front-drive setup. Most of the appeal comes from the fact that you don't see many 21 year old college kids in a lincoln, and that's just fine with me.

Anyway, I have a couple questions for the general expertise of the group. I don't want to screw any of the internals up too badly, so the only things I am changing performance-wise are the intake and exhaust. I put in a K and N filter today, and so far it's working out great. I also want to install a couple of 40 series flowmasters out back to liven up the exhaust tone a bit, and I know that a few people have already done so with great success. If possible, I could really use the specs on the new flowmasters, all I know is that I need an offset inlet and centered outlet. Dimensions would work for me, or if you just know the part numbers, that would be even better.

Also, I was wondering if anyone experiences a weird pause and squeak (sort of) at the 1-2 upshift. This really only happens when you stomp on it, and doesn't seem to be a huge problem, but I don't really want to buy a new transmission when this thing hits 50000 miles. Anyway, I'd love to know what everyone thinks, this seems to be a great board.

Thanks,
Scott

I've ridden in a 96 that does the same thing with the tranny, but this car had 235,000 on it. I wouldn't worry unless you're trying to show off for some friends. As for the car overall, if it were me, I wouldn't put that kind of money into a continental unless it was a classic. I would have bought a towncar... That's where it's at. Who can argue with a 4.6L? If the continental doesn't work out for you, that's my recomendation.
